What Joining Beyond Med Costs a Practice, and What It Earns

Joining Beyond Med costs a practice the discount it agrees to give members, and nothing else that the published provider agreement describes.

Last updated 8 October 2026

There is no enrollment, monthly or listing fee in the agreement or its addendum. What the practice earns is access to employer-based members who pay it directly at that agreed price, plus listing and promotion, with no volume promised.

A practice owner deciding whether to join a network asks what it costs and what it earns before anything else. This page answers both in plain terms for Beyond Med.

Beyond Med is not insurance. It does not pay your practice, it does not sit in your payer mix, and it is not an alternative to the plans you already accept. It is a self-pay patient-acquisition channel that runs alongside them, and like any channel it has a real cost and a real return.

Key takeaways

  • The cost of joining is the member discount you choose and write on the agreement. It applies only when a member is actually treated.
  • The provider agreement and addendum published on beyondmedplans.com describe no enrollment, monthly or listing fee. Review the current agreement for your state for any applicable charge.
  • Members pay you directly, usually at the point of service under your normal self-pay process. There is no claim to submit to Beyond Med.
  • In return, approved practices are listed in the network and may be promoted through member communications, social channels and employer Open Enrollment. No placement or patient volume is guaranteed.
  • The agreement is nonexclusive. You can end it on 30 days notice, and you finish any course of treatment already begun.
  • The math does not work for every practice, and this page says which ones.

What does it cost to join?

There is no fee described in the agreement. The Provider Agreement is two pages, followed by an information supplement, and it comes with a longer addendum. Read the published documents end to end and you find no enrollment fee, no monthly cost, no listing fee and no percentage payable to Beyond Med. Neither document sets a minimum patient volume. Agreements can vary by state and organization, so treat the agreement you are actually given as the controlling document.

Four things are still worth counting as costs even though no invoice is attached.

  • The discount itself. This is the real economic cost. It is the difference between your standard price and the rate you agree to accept from a member, and it applies only when a member is treated. It is not a fee for being listed.
  • Your time to onboard. You sign the agreement and addendum, complete the information supplement with each provider's name, date of birth and NPI or license number, and list each office address. Beyond Med approves each office location during onboarding, and the addendum sets the standard those locations meet: accessibility for people with disabilities, HIPAA privacy practices, OSHA guidelines, annual fire inspection and displayed licenses. A practice operating normally will generally meet these, but someone has to confirm it.
  • Credentialing, where it applies. The addendum says a practice's professional credentials must be approved by Beyond Med or a designated third party before acceptance, and that this applies where a state or federal regulator, or Beyond Med, deems it necessary given Beyond Med's licensure status. Ask which applies to you before you plan your timeline.
  • Malpractice insurance you already hold. You carry whatever malpractice insurance the law requires for your practice. This is your own practice coverage. Beyond Med does not provide it.

How is my member rate set?

You write it. On the signature page of the Provider Agreement there are two blank lines. One says "Services to be discounted." The other says "Discount % offered on above services." The practice fills in both.

  • You set your own standard prices, as you do now.
  • You choose which services you make available to members and the discount for each. Beyond Med's provider page says members normally receive reductions of 20% on average. That is a typical reference, not a minimum, and the number on your agreement is the number you agreed.
  • The member pays your practice that rate directly. Some practices prefer a fixed member price or a service-specific schedule, which can also be agreed in writing.

Beyond Med's approach is to reach a price that is meaningful to the member and workable for your practice, not to push you to a headline percentage that does not pay.

There is no claim to submit, no coding for Beyond Med, no adjudication and no reimbursement wait. Your staff still have to verify membership and apply the correct price.

Three rules shape how the rate behaves once set:

  • The discount must be offered on a consistent basis.
  • If your customary fees rise during a treatment already planned with a member, the discounted fee from before the increase governs that course of treatment.
  • If you are running a public promotion that is better than the member discount, the member gets the more favorable price. The two are not stacked.

What do I get for the discount?

The addendum describes promotional services. Approved practices can expect the following, though which channels are used for which practice depends on category, geography, member demand and campaign, and nothing is guaranteed:

  • Listing in the network. Beyond Med maintains an up-to-date listing of its network on its website, mobile application and written publications, and members can search by provider, specialty, treatment and location.
  • Marketing use of your details. With your name, contact information, specialty, logo, likeness, address, hours and agreed discount, Beyond Med may include your practice in marketing materials.
  • Posts about your services. Beyond Med's website and approved social media channels can carry posts about your services.
  • Member and employer channels. Beyond Med's provider page names network highlights, social media, newsletters and employer Open Enrollment sessions as the ways it markets a practice.
  • Concierge searches. Members can ask the Concierge Team to help them find a provider.

Employer Open Enrollment reaches employed people when they are deciding how to spend on their own health, which paid advertising cannot replicate. Whether a specific employer's staff are directed to your practice is not something Beyond Med can promise in advance.

What volume can I expect?

We are not going to publish a number, and you should be cautious of any network that does. Beyond Med does not guarantee a minimum number of searches, referrals, appointments, procedures or revenue.

Volume depends on things specific to your practice rather than the network as a whole: how many members live within reach of your location, how closely your specialty matches what members search for, and how many other participating practices are listed nearby. Those vary enough between two practices in the same city that a single figure would either undersell a well-placed practice or overpromise a poorly placed one. If member density near you matters to your decision, ask the Beyond Med team what they can tell you before you sign, and treat the answer as information rather than a commitment.

How does the discount compare with an empty appointment slot?

An appointment slot that goes unbooked earns nothing, whatever you charge for it. A slot filled by a member at your agreed price earns your standard price less the discount, collected from the member. At a 20% discount that is roughly four fifths of your standard price against zero.

One honest qualification. The addendum requires you to accept members as new patients and to give them the same standard of care and availability as your other patients. You cannot treat members as fill-in patients for leftover capacity. The economics work because members are demand you were not otherwise reaching, not because they are booked last.

Then weigh the discount against what you already spend to fill a slot another way, such as paid search, social advertising or referral marketing. A media budget is spent whether or not anyone books. The discount is a variable cost that exists only when a patient shows up and pays you. Whether that beats your current cost per acquired patient depends on your own numbers, so calculate it before you decide. Payment follows your normal self-pay process, and Beyond Med cannot eliminate ordinary collection risk or guarantee that any member pays.

What am I committing to?

Beyond the rate itself, the agreement asks for the following:

  • Honor the rate every time. If you or your staff fail to apply the discount and the member pays the undiscounted amount, you reimburse the member the difference directly.
  • No added charges. You charge the member the agreed rate and nothing beyond it for the services listed on your agreement. Revisions or additional procedures arising from complications are allowed, but you disclose in writing whether they fall under the agreed rate. Do not use add-on fees or surcharges to reverse the discount.
  • Check eligibility. Confirming a person is an active member is the practice's responsibility. Beyond Med provides a way to verify at beyondmedplans.com/eligibility-check.
  • Get the treatment plan approved in writing. Members approve planned services in writing before you perform them, in a format you determine.
  • Tell Beyond Med when something material changes. License status, malpractice actions involving a member, disciplinary proceedings, office changes and changes to the services you offer.
  • Provide encounter reports if required. There are no claims in this program, but Beyond Med may request encounter reports where a state or federal inquiry or statutory audit requires it, sent through a secure transfer.
  • Read the rest. The agreement also covers arbitration, mutual indemnification, confidentiality of member records and trademark use. Read all of it, or have counsel do so.

How do I leave?

You can end the agreement on 30 days notice. If it ends, you complete the course of treatment for any member whose procedure began before that date.

The agreement is nonexclusive in every respect. You may join other networks and keep your own arrangements, and Beyond Med may contract with other practices in your specialty. Beyond Med does not offer exclusive territories.

One clause to read before signing rather than after: Beyond Med may modify the agreement on 30 days advance written notice, and if you do not object in writing the modification is deemed accepted. Make sure whoever opens your mail knows that.

When does the math not work for a practice?

  • You are already full at full price. If your schedule is booked at standard rates for the services you would list, joining trades away margin on volume you did not need.
  • Your services are outside the program. Beyond Med's member program is built around elective, wellness and related self-pay services. The program currently does not include hospital stays, emergency room visits, primary care visits or dental services. If your practice is primary care, dental or hospital-based, this is not a fit.
  • You cannot hold one consistent rate. The agreement requires the discount to be applied consistently. If your pricing is negotiated case by case, the structure will conflict with it.
  • You expect Beyond Med to reimburse you. It does not. Members pay you.
  • You want a guaranteed patient count. Nobody can honestly give you one, including Beyond Med.

Common questions

Does it cost anything to join the Beyond Med provider network?

The provider agreement and addendum published on beyondmedplans.com describe no enrollment fee, no monthly cost, no listing fee and no percentage payable to Beyond Med, and neither sets a minimum patient volume. The cost is the discount you agree to give members, which applies only when a member is treated. Review the current agreement for your state for any applicable charge.

How is my rate set?

You set it. The agreement has a blank line for the services you choose to discount and a blank line for the percentage. Beyond Med's provider page says members normally receive reductions of about 20% on average, but the number on your agreement is the one you wrote.

Do I have to discount my entire price list?

No. You list the services you want to make available to members. Everything else in your practice is unaffected.

How and when do I get paid?

The member pays your practice directly, generally under your normal self-pay process and often at the point of service. Beyond Med does not pay you or reimburse a claim.

How many patients will I get?

Beyond Med does not promise a number. It depends on how many members live near you, how well your specialty matches member demand, and how many practices are already listed nearby.

What do I get in return for the discount?

A listing in the network, possible promotion through member newsletters, social channels and employer Open Enrollment, and use of your approved practice details in marketing. Placement varies and is not guaranteed.

Can I leave, and am I locked into exclusivity?

You can end the agreement on 30 days notice. It is nonexclusive in every respect. If you leave, you complete treatment for any member whose procedure was already underway.

Do I need to submit claims or codes?

No Beyond Med claim is required. You may still keep normal clinical records and receipts for your own purposes.

Does signing the agreement put me in the network right away?

No. A signed agreement does not by itself make a practice listed. Beyond Med reviews credentials and provider information first, and a practice is listed after final approval and activation.
