Case study: how member demand brought a new kind of provider into the network
Beyond Med recruits providers where its members are already asking for care.
Last updated 12 October 2026In one region, summarized interest information from an employer's workforce showed demand for restorative services that had few participating providers nearby. Beyond Med recruited float therapy and meditation providers in that region so members could find them. This page walks through how that happens, and what it means for a practice that Beyond Med contacts.
The employer and the providers are not named. Beyond Med does not publish a client's or a provider's name without permission, and this page does not claim any patient numbers or revenue.
Key takeaways
- Members tell Beyond Med which services they are interested in and how they want to receive them. Members can also nominate a practice they already use, and employers can name priorities.
- When that demand points to a service with few participating providers in an area, Beyond Med recruits in that specialty and location.
- In this case, the result was float therapy and meditation providers added to the network in the region where the interest was.
- A practice contacted this way starts the conversation with evidence of relevant demand, although the number of potential patients is not known in advance.
- Joining does not guarantee patients or revenue. It lists the practice where members looking for what it offers can find it.
What happened
The demand. An employer offered Beyond Med to its workforce. Interest information from that workforce showed demand for restorative therapies in the region.
The gap. Few participating providers offered those services nearby, so members had little to choose from.
The response. Beyond Med recruited float therapy and meditation providers in the region and added them to the network, so members searching for those services could find a participating provider.
Why it matters for providers. The recruitment started from member interest in specific services in a specific region, not from a generic list.
How does demand-led recruitment work?
A practice is listed only after final approval and activation. Signing a form or an agreement does not by itself put a practice in the network.
What does this mean for your practice?
If Beyond Med contacts your practice, it is for one of three reasons: members or an employer asked for your specialty in your area, a member nominated your practice, or your practice fits a network-development priority. Beyond Med will explain the general location and service demand. It will not name the employer or quote member numbers without that employer's permission, and it will not suggest there is a waiting list of patients unless one exists. If a member nominated your practice, Beyond Med may tell you that a member asked for it, where that is permitted, but it will not share the member's personal information.
Once listed, your practice may be found through Beyond Med's provider search and the Concierge Team, and may be featured in member communications and employer enrollment activity. Promotion depends on your category, location and demand, and no placement is guaranteed.
What does a participating practice agree to?
- Offer an agreed member price on selected services. About 20% below standard self-pay pricing is a typical reference, but the agreement and fee schedule set the actual rate.
- Verify membership before the visit and apply the member price.
- Collect payment directly from the member. There are no Beyond Med claims.
- Keep its profile, locations, clinicians and services current.
The standard agreement is nonexclusive, and the practice keeps full control of clinical decisions and scheduling.
Key terms
- Demand-led recruitment: inviting providers in the specialties and places where members are already looking for care.
- Provider nomination: a member's request that Beyond Med invite a practice they already use.
- Participating provider: a practice that has completed review and activation and offers member pricing on selected services.
- Activation: the final step, after which a practice is listed and members can find it.
Frequently asked questions
Why did Beyond Med contact my practice?
Because members or an employer asked for your specialty in your area, a member nominated your practice, or your practice fits a network-development priority. Beyond Med will explain the general demand when it is known.
Does demand in my area mean guaranteed patients?
No. Demand is a reason to talk, not a promise. Beyond Med does not guarantee searches, appointments or revenue.
Will you tell me which employer the demand comes from?
Only if that employer has given permission. Otherwise Beyond Med describes the general location and the services members are asking for.
When is my practice listed?
After final review and activation. Signing an agreement does not by itself make a practice participating.
How does this fit with my insurance billing?
It sits beside it. Participation is nonexclusive, and a Beyond Med visit is paid directly by the member at the member price, with no Beyond Med claim. Your existing payer contracts still govern any insurance billing.
Beyond Med is not insurance. It provides discounts at participating providers and does not make payments to providers. Members pay providers directly.
Beyond Med Plans Inc. is not insurance. Beyond Med provides discounts at participating providers for eligible services and does not make payments directly to providers. Members are responsible for paying for all services but receive the contracted member price from providers participating with Beyond Med.
