Elective and cosmetic care for employees: dermatology, med spa, vein treatment and LASIK

Employers can help staff save on elective care such as dermatology, med spa services, vein treatment and LASIK by offering Beyond Med alongside their existing benefits.

Last updated 8 October 2026

Employees find a participating provider, confirm the member price, book directly and pay the provider at that price. There are no claims and the medical plan does not change. The voluntary model typically needs no direct employer funding.

Elective care is where employees often find that their medical plan does not help: the service is not included, the price is hard to find, and they are left to search and compare on their own. Beyond Med gives them one place to look, a member price from participating providers, and a person to call when they want help.

Key takeaways

  • Participating providers offer member pricing on elective services including medical and cosmetic dermatology, med spa services, laser hair removal, hair restoration, vein services, LASIK and hearing care. Availability varies by location.
  • Employees pay the provider directly at the member price. Savings vary by provider and service, and employees can confirm the price before they book.
  • Beyond Med does not replace the medical plan. It sits alongside it for care the plan was never designed to pay for.
  • The membership can be voluntary, typically with no direct employer funding, or employer-sponsored. Membership pricing is quoted per group.
  • Elective and cosmetic care is one part of Beyond Med. The same membership also gives access to participating providers in pain relief, weight management, fertility, mental wellness and other categories.

The network changes over time and depends on location. Before you decide, Beyond Med can review where your employees live against current participating providers.

Providers make their own clinical decisions, including whether a procedure is appropriate for a patient. Beyond Med does not recommend treatments or promise results.

How does an employee use it?

  • Search. The employee searches Beyond Med by service and location, or asks the Concierge Team to help find a provider.
  • Confirm the price. They check that the service participates and confirm the current member price with the provider or the Concierge Team, before booking.
  • Book directly with the provider and say they are a Beyond Med member.
  • Show membership. The provider verifies it with the digital membership card or Beyond Med's eligibility check.
  • Pay the provider the member price. There is no claim and nothing to reimburse.

How much do employees save?

It depends on the provider and the service. Member pricing is agreed with each participating provider, and employees can compare it with the provider's standard self-pay price before they book. Savings vary by provider and service and are never guaranteed.

What does it cost the employer?

The Beyond Med membership can be voluntary, where employees pay and there is typically no direct employer funding, or employer-sponsored, where the employer pays. Membership pricing is quoted per group, based on size and location.

Is this just a cosmetic discount card?

No. A discount card gives employees a list or a percentage. Beyond Med combines participating providers across many categories, provider search, a Concierge Team, provider recruitment based on what your employees ask for, enrollment support and, depending on the agreement, summarized reporting for the employer. Elective and cosmetic care is one of the reasons employees use it, not the whole program.

Beyond Med is not insurance and does not replace a medical plan. Employees should keep their medical plan for medical needs, emergencies and hospital care.

Key terms

  • Elective care: services a person chooses to have that are not urgent, such as LASIK or cosmetic dermatology.

  • Member price: the price a participating provider has agreed to offer Beyond Med members for a participating service.
  • Self-pay price: what the provider charges a patient who pays directly, without a member price.
